Auditions are open
for fall 2026
VanCity Harmony is currently casting for new members. Our selections for our Fall 2026 membership will be based on the submissions received AND on maintaining a balance among all voice parts. Our target ensemble size is no more than 40 singers.
Our casting process for the upcoming season consists of providing some background information and uploading 3 self-recorded videos using our Online Casting Portal (linked below).
The deadline for casting submissions is Sunday, August 16, 2026 at midnight. Our team will evaluate and let each person know the results of their audition personally on or before Friday, August 21st.

FALL 2026
Membership Overview
Members are expected to attend the majority of our 11 scheduled Wednesday night rehearsals in Burnaby, BC. We begin rehearsals with an every-other-week cadence on Wednesday, September 2nd to give new and returning singers time to learn music at home. In mid-October, we shift to weekly rehearsals, plus a Saturday retreat in November and show performance weekend in December. What We look for
You show up to a rehearsal with music learned at a level that is note, word, rhythm perfect. Your time is precious and you want to be part of something spectacular, not just OK. You are a great teammate and kind to others.
Becoming a member of VanCity Harmony does not require you to be the best vocalist on the planet. However, we do expect you to deeply prepare your music ahead of and outside of rehearsals so you honour your section, your chorus, your leaders, the music, and yourself. If you love being around other prepared and quality musicians, and are willing to do the same preparation for them, this is the group for you.
About VanCity Harmony
VanCity Harmony formed in March of 2024 after our leadership team was discussing the number of wonderful a cappella singers in the Vancouver area who were not singing in a chorus or were serving as leaders and missing their own singing. We invited 27 people to start our core group, creating a small chorus with the hope that it would flourish into something long-term. We are thrilled to now be opening up our sixth audition season!
Our roots are in a cappella and barbershop, but our members craved more advanced 4, 6 and 8 part music in the choral, jazz, and pop styles. Nor, our current members come from a wide variety of musical backgrounds – traditional choral, vocal jazz, musical theatre, and more! We sing a mix of a cappella and music with a variety of light accompaniment. Our singers are average to exceptional, but our secret sauce is our deep preparation away from rehearsal, as well as our genuine fondness for each other.
Our Artistic Director, Donny Rose, is a long-time music educator, well versed in a wide range of choral styles and our rehearsals are fast paced, dynamic, and fun. Our leadership team – Executive Director Dr. Philip Grant, Performance Director Donya Metzger, and Communications Director Amy Rose – is highly organized, detail oriented, and does an incredible amount of preparatory work ahead of each season. Our section leaders are strong and empathetic. Our members care about singing at a high level, are highly committed to preparing their music outside of rehearsals, and care deeply about each other.
